Lyon

The dark dreay weather of Lyon casually reminded me of growing up in western Washington. We spent a day walking the streets of Lyon in southern France. Lyon was different than Paris, we all enjoyed it. Quiet and laid back, yet still a big city, we found it to be very welcoming. This image developed as we walked down the soggy streets cluttered with barber shops and small markets. It was the fact that I hadn’t seen any homeless people since beeing there that caught my eye. I quietly slowed down as Schuyler kept walking. I wanted an image that would convey a sense of lonliness while being surrounded by busyness. Her white robe was very clean, interestingly. She didn’t even seem to notice that people were walking by. I am not familiar with European thoughts on home-less people or the societies opinion. But it made me sad that just as she seemed numb to her surroundings, too often I am numb towards others.
